Family Health

The Division of Family Health is to supports quality care for the most vulnerable citizens of the State of Utah. This quality assurance is a value, which is accomplished through the use of regulatory standards, processes, and authorities. The division additionally works to achieve continuous improvement and evidence-based decision making both internally to the division, and externally through the numerous programs and partners that we operate and coordinate.


The Division of Family Health and Preparedness became the Division of Family Health when the Department of Health and the Department of Human Services merged to create the Department of Health and Humand Services in July 2022.

Sometime in late 2009 the Department of Health renamed and reorganized their divisions. The Division of Family Health and Preparedness is new. It includes bureaus formerly in the Division of Health Systems Improvement and units formerly under the now defunct Division of Community and Family Health (now Division of Disease Control and Prevention), Division of Epidemiology and Laboratory Services (now State Health Laboratories); and Division of Health Systems Improvement.
