This site provides statistical numerical data as well as contextual information on the health status of Utahns and the state of Utah's health care system built from information supplied by dozens of contributors
and managed by data stewards
from the various offices.
The first query system was developed by the Office of Surveillance and Analysis. That office was created in about 1993 with funding from the CDC Assessment Initiative (LaDene Larsen in the UDOH Bureau of Chronic Disease authored the grant application, and Ken Keppel was the project officer for the AI grant). The office was also partially funded by the CDC Preventive Services Block Grant.
IBIS is now being used by the health departments of the states of Arizona
, Massachusetts, New Mexico
, Montana, New Jersey
, North Carolina
, and the National Center for Health for Health Statistics (NCHS)
, but the Utah is the only state whose implementation has Public Health Outcome Measures Report (PHOM) capabilities.
