Latin American Economic System
Refers to the regional intergovernmental association, based in Caracas, Venezuela, that was founded in 1975 and is known by the Spanish acronym SELA. The group promotes regional economic development strategies, the creation of multinational enterprises, forming agreements for agricultural and industrial production, and sharing scientific, technological, and cultural resources among its members in Latin America and the Caribbean.
