Latin American Integration Association
Refers to the regional organization, formed in 1980 to realize the objectives of the former LATIN AMERICAN FREE TRADE ASSOCIATION (also a subject term). Known by the English acronym LAIA, it encourages free trade with a view toward building a common market and regional economic integration.
