Organization of African Unity
Refers to the former international organization, established in May 1963, to eradicate all forms of colonialism in Africa, promote human rights in the region, raise living standards for Africans, and resolve conflicts between member states. Known by the acronym O.A.U., it was superseded in 2002 by the African Union (also a GLIN term).
