Border security involves all activities that aim to prevent the entry of persons or materials that pose a potential danger to the United States. This requires monitoring of the United States' 328 ports of entry along the 7,500 miles of land border that the United States shares with: Canada and Mexico, as well as along the 95,000 miles coastline.
