The Utah Medical Assistance Report is the annual Medicaid report. The reports' contents have altered throughout its publication history. The report is published according to the fiscal year by the Division of Health Care Financing and Standards of the Utah Department of Health.
In fiscal years 1978-1982, medical assistance consisted of two separate programs, Medicaid and County Indigent Medical. These two programs were funded separately but provided many of the same medical services and so were presented as a unit.
As of 1983, the Medicaid Program is partly federally funded and governed by specific federal regulations. It is part of the Title XIX of the Social Security Act.
The Indigent Medical Assistance Program was founded in fiscal year 1978 and is totally funded by state and county governments. Known as the Utah Medical Assistance Program (UMAP), the program originally provided funding for life threatening medical needs.
As of 2010, the report began to include the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) annual statistics, becoming the Utah Statistical Report of Medicaid and CHIP.
