The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), a bureau within the Department of Interior, is the largest land management agency in the United States. The BLM's mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America's public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. BLM management objectives, include recreation, wild horse herds, cultural and paleontological resources, leasing oil and gas resources, renewable energy projects and wilderness, to name a few.
The BLM is one of a handful of federal agencies that manage public lands across America. Other federal land management agencies include the National Park Service, the United States Forest Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Bureau of Reclamation.
